Biography:

Kulikov Vitaliy Yuryevich, born on December 3, 1975 in Karaganda, Republic of Kazakhstan, Russian, higher education, graduated with honors from Karaganda State Technical University in 1998, specializing in “Machines and technology of foundry production”.

Specialist in metallurgy and foundry production.

From 1998 to 2000, he studied for a master’s degree at the Karaganda State Technical University, specializing in “Machines and Technology of Foundry Production”, from which he graduated with honors.

From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a shift foreman in the foundry shop of the Karaganda Machine-Building Plant named after Parkhomenko CJSC, and in 2004, he was transferred to the position of a foundry technologist at the Parkhomenko KMZ JSC, and acted as the head of the foundry shop. He combined production activities with teaching work at 0.5 of a teacher’s rate.

From 2002 to 2004, he studied in the postgraduate program of the Karaganda State Technical University, specializing in Foundry Production.

With 2001 to 2008. Kulikov V.Yu. – assistant, lecturer, senior lecturer of the department of “Machines and Technology, Foundry Production and Structural Materials”, since 2008 associate professor of the department of “Metallurgy, Materials Science and Nanotechnology” of the Karaganda State Technical University. In 2009, he was appointed acting head of the department of “Metallurgy, Materials Science and Nanotechnology” (MMN) of the Karaganda State Technical University. In July 2010, he was elected through a competition to the position of head of the MMN department. In 2014-2015 – scientific director of the International Materials Science Center. In 2016 – head of the department of “Nanotechnology and Metallurgy”. In the period from 2017-2019 – chief researcher of the commercialization project of the grant of JSC “Science Fund”. In 2020-2023 – Head of the Department of Nanotechnology and Metallurgy. Since 2024 – Professor of the Department of Nanotechnology and Metallurgy.

On November 30, 2007, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in specialty 05.16.08 – Theory of Metallurgical Processes on the topic “Development of models of a dispersed sand-resin mixture for the purpose of operational control of its structure.”

The result was an increase in density uniformity and an increase in the strength of the shell form.

Kulikov V.Yu. was the head of the topic “Development and implementation of production of sand-resin molds under non-stationary pressure in order to improve the quality of finished products” (contract with the SC MES RK No. 198-6 dated “16″ March 2018, financing for three years 27.2 million tenge), responsible executor of the topic “Creation, development and implementation of technologies for the production and processing of new generation wear-resistant materials for obtaining parts of metallurgical units” (contract with the SC MES RK No. 217 dated “20″ March 2018, 170 million tenge); performer of the topics “Improving the technology for manufacturing precision castings from complex-alloy steels with a homogenized structure and improved properties using raw materials of Kazakhstan content” (contract with the SC MES RK No. 198-7 dated March 16, 2017, 24.2 million tenge), “Metallographic and petrographic studies of high-ash coal samples from the Kushoky open-pit mine” (economic agreement with Karaganda Complex Alloy Plant LLP No. 17.12.02 dated December 1, 2017, 15 million tenge). In 2017-2019. He was the chief researcher of the Commercialization Project “Increasing the corrosion resistance of ferrous and non-ferrous metals by using halloysite nanotubes” (agreement with JSC “Science Fund”, No. 291 dated 23.12.2016) and professor of the Department of Nanotechnology and Metallurgy. Kulikov V.Yu. has more than 500 printed scientific and methodological works, including co-author of 40 textbooks and 12 monographs, 40 articles in the journals “Metals” (Switzerland, impact factor CA 2.221), “Metallurgija” (Croatia, Scopus impact factor 0.388), etc., the author of 50 inventions for which patents and provisional patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a Eurasian patent were received, participated in more than 20 international conferences held in Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Poland, the Czech Republic, published 35 articles in leading scientific publications of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Russia, the list of which is approved by the Committee for Control of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A number of patents have been implemented at TOO KMZ im. Parkhomenko, TOO Karaganda Machine-Building Consortium, TOO Temir-Arka, etc.

It has a Hirsch Index of 10 in the Scopus database, 8 in the Clarivate Analitycs database, and 14 in the RSCI database.

In February 2013 he was elected as a full member of the International Academy of Informatization.

In June 2017, V.Yu. Kulikov was awarded the academic title of professor in the field of Metallurgy.

The scientific works of students under the supervision of V.Yu. Kulikov twice won prizes in the Republican competition of student scientific works.

In 2017-2019, under the scientific supervision of V.Yu. Kulikov, 18 master’s students defended their theses in the direction of “Nanotechnology in Metallurgy”, prepared to solve specific problems of enterprises implementing GPIIR-2. Currently, he is the head of 9 master’s students and a scientific consultant for one doctoral student.

In 2009 and 2014, V.Yu. Kulikov was awarded the state grant “Best University Teacher” and, as part of the grant implementation, completed internships at the Moscow State Open University (Russia) and Louisiana Tech University (USA) on the organization of the educational process and the functioning of the nanotechnology laboratory. V.Yu. Kulikov also completed scientific internships in 2009 and 2018 at the St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University (St. Petersburg, Russia), in 2011 at the University of Lorraine (Nancy, France), in 2013 at Lidavia JSC (Prague, Czech Republic), in 2014 at National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (Tomsk, Russia), the University of Pittsburgh and the University at Albany (USA).

In 2019, he became the recipient of a state scientific scholarship and a laureate of the Zamandas competition in the Kulibin Among Us nomination.

In 2018-2025, he was a member of the organizing committee of the XXI International Scientific Technical Conference “FOUNDRY”, held in Pleven (Bulgaria). Since 2019, he has been a member of the Dissertation Council for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty “Metallurgy” at the Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov.

In 2020, as part of a group of scientists, he was awarded the Al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Science and Technology. In 2020, he won the Best Engineer 2019 competition in the Metallurgy industry.

In 2021, he was awarded the title of “Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
