Biography:
Kvon Svetlana S. graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys with a degree in Physicochemical Investigations of Metallurgical Processes.
On December 1, 1988 at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in the specialty 05.16.02 – Metallurgy of ferrous metals on the topic “Determination of the relationship of the processes of pelletizing, firing and metallization in order to improve the quality of metallized pellets”.
On April 12, 1989, by a decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the USSR, she was awarded the degree of candidate of technical sciences in the specialty “Metallurgy of ferrous metals.”
As a result of the preparation of her dissertation, she developed recommendations for improving the pelletizing, firing and metallization of iron ore pellets, which were taken into account in the technological processes for the production of metallized pellets at the Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant.
After defending a dissertation, Kvon Sv. S. worked as a junior research fellow at the SRD of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute. From September 1989 to September 1996, Kvon Sv. S. worked as an assistant, teacher, senior lecturer of the department “Foundry machines and construction materials” of the Karaganda State Technical University.
April 12, 1996 by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kvon Sv. S. the academic title of Associate Professor in the specialty “Metallurgy” was awarded.
In September 1996, she was selected by competition as an assistant professor of the department “Foundry Machines and Structural Materials” of the Karaganda State Technical University.
In March 2016, she was transferred to the post of acting professors of the department “Nanotechnology and Metallurgy”, and on May 16, 2016. she was elected by competition to the post of professor of this department.
Since January 2017, she has been the chief researcher at the Project of the Science Fund JSC, professor at the NTM department.
The main direction of scientific activity of Kwon St. S. are research in the field of metallurgy and material science related to improving the properties and structure of materials.
Kvon Sv. S. took part in the implementation of grant and program-targeted financing projects under agreements with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the MID over the past five years on the following topics:
- “Improving the corrosion resistance of metals by coating of halloysite nanotubes” (agreement with NATR JSC, executive officer, 19.5 million tenge);
- “Development of technology for producing high-strength foundry molds” (agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, contractor);
- “Creation of a Center for heat-resistant materials for the aviation and space industry topic names” (agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, executive officer, 130 million tenge);
- “Development of the technology” Sintering – casting “to obtain products of powder metallurgy of high quality and with high heat-resistant properties” (agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scientific adviser, 17 million tenge).
Kvon Sv. S. developed a technology for hardening cermets by impregnation to obtain powder metallurgy products of high quality and with high heat-resistant properties. According to the developed technology of hardening cermets, industrial tests were conducted at the production site of KMZ im. Parkhomenko ”, the act of implementation was received.
Currently, she is the supervisor of the state budget topic “Improving the technology for the production of precision castings from complex alloyed steels with a homogenized structure and improved properties using raw materials of Kazakhstan content” (contract with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 198-6 dated March 16, 2018, funding for three 24.1 million tenge), executive officer of the topic “Development and implementation of the production of sand-tar molds under unsteady pressure in order to improve the quality of finished products” (agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 198-6 of March 16, 2018, financing for three years 27.2 million tenge).
With the direct and active participation of Kvon Sv. S. research is being conducted in the field of metallurgy of heat-resistant materials, the structure and behavior of porous media, and the improvement of the technology for producing alloy steels. The results of the research and implemented projects were the basis for the creation of a scientific school of metal science of heat-resistant alloys at the Karaganda State Technical University, an active participant of which is Kvon Sv. S.
She is the author of more than 250 scientific and educational works. Between 2015 and 2019 Kvon Sv. S. published more than 90 scientific papers, including 21 articles in journals included in the Claivate Analytics database, such as Metallurgija (Croatia, IF Scopus 0.388), Metals magazine (Switzerland, IF CA 2.259, IF Scopus 0.594), Metallurgist (USA, IF CA 0.294, IF Scopus 0.255); 12 inventions for which patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan and SIS RK were received, 1 Eurasian patent; 9 monographs, published 26 articles in leading scientific journals of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Russia, the list of which is approved by KKSON MES RK.
The Hirsch Index, based on Thomson Reuters (Web of Science Core Collection), is 4.
Kvon St. S. constantly directs student research and is the supervisor of undergraduates. She trained 19 masters in the specialties “Metallurgy” and “Material Science and Technology of New Materials”. The graduation projects and student research projects prepared under her leadership have repeatedly been winners of the Golden Hephaestos contest, the Republican contest of student research papers and student olympiads.
Kvon Sv. S. is one of the developers of the new Master’s program in Nanotechnology in Metallurgy for the training of qualified personnel for SPIID-2 projects, developed jointly with the University of Lorraine (France).
Kvon Sv. S. passed the internships at Ecole des Mines (France), at St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University Peter the Great (Russia), NI Tomsk Polytechnic University, Gediminas University (Lithuania).
